Work Experience Week 2024

Earlier this month, we welcomed 5 GCSE students and 1 A level student to Plessey for work experience week.

The GCSE students got an overview of Plessey, including a tour of the fab, trying their hands at mechanical and electrical engineering, and learning more about all the processes involved in creating microLEDs. The A level placement went into more detail with our Coring and Metrology team, shadowing two of our process engineers to learn about their day-to-day role.

At the end of the week, the students gave presentations about what they had learned, each presenting on their favourite part of the week. For several of them, this was the first time they had presented in this way, and they all did a fantastic job explaining their chosen topic.

We can’t wait to meet more students next year – work experience applications will open on our Early Careers hub later this year.
