Generous annual leave entitlement
Plessey understands the importance of work-life balance, which is why we offer 28 days of annual leave plus bank holidays for all day-shift employees. For those working shifts, the entitlement is 25 days of annual leave (including bank holidays).
Group personal pension plan
Plessey has established a Self-Invested Personal Pension Scheme to help our employees save for their future retirement, which will automatically be enrolled on after three months of employment.
In the unfortunate event of your death in service whilst you are working for Plessey, a cash sum would be payable to your dependants, amounting to four times your pensionable salary as of the date of your death. In addition, your pension fund may be used to provide benefits for your dependents.
Plessey offers enhanced maternity and paternity packages for all eligible employees to help smooth the transition into parenthood. We also offer adoption, parental, and dependants leave.
Free fruit and vend
We supply free coffee, tea and hot chocolate drinks, as well as free fruit for all staff to enjoy.
We have a subsidised canteen that serves hot and cold meals and snacks during specified opening times. A vending service is available 24/7, including hot and cold drinks, food and snacks.
Microwave ovens and fridges are provided for employees’ convenience.
Sports and Fitness
At Plessey, we take your health and wellbeing seriously and therefore offer a variety of ways for you to stay fit and active.
We have a gym onsite, which is open 24/7 to members of the Sports and Social Club. Membership of the gym is also available to members’ spouses or partners, subject to an additional subscription.
Our Sports and Social Club coordinates various activities for employees throughout the year, including cycling events, walking trips, and 5-a-side football. We also have a snooker table and table tennis for members to use during breaks.
Plessey is part of the Cycle to Work scheme, and we encourage our employees to cycle to work where possible. We have secure bike sheds on site, e-bike charging points and fully equipped changing facilities for our employees to use.
Health and wellbeing
In addition to helping you stay active, we offer several services to support your physical and mental wellbeing.
We have an Occupational Health Doctor who visits our facility in Plymouth regularly to carry out various medical examinations required by the company. Employees may also request to see the Occupational Health Doctor for advice on any health-related work problem.
As part of our ongoing initiative to promote health and wellbeing in the workplace, we have Mental Health First Aiders onsite to provide support and reassurance to our employees.
Our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is a free service for all employees, which offers confidential, independent help, information, and guidance on financial, legal, medical and marital matters.
Private health and dental schemes
Plessey operates a Private Healthcare scheme for all permanent employees who have passed their probation period. This scheme is also open to family members for an additional premium.
We also provide employees with the opportunity to join a discounted dental scheme. This employee-paid perk offers money back for all eligible dental treatments.
Free onsite parking
There is plenty of free parking available at our Plymouth site. We have also recently introduced charging points for electric bikes and electric vehicles for Plessey employees to use, subject to terms and conditions.
We have a discreet prayer facility available for anyone who would like a prayer facility during office hours.
