Plessey offer 28 days, plus Bank Holidays for all Day shift employees. If you work shifts, you are entitled to 25 days holiday (including Bank Holidays).
In the unfortunate event of your death in service whilst you are working for Plessey, a cash sum would be payable to your dependants amounting to four times your pensionable salary as at the date of your death. In addition, your pension fund may be used to provide benefits for your dependants.
Employee Referral Scheme
In order to attract key talent to Plessey, we have a Talent Attraction Scheme.
If you put forward someone for a key who then goes through our recruitment process and is offered permanent employment, you will receive £500 on their start date and a further £1,000 on their 12 month anniversary date. Payments will be made via payroll subject to normal deductions in the month after their start or anniversary date.
Plessey has established a Self-Invested Personal Pension Scheme to help employees save for their future retirement. The Company has appointed AEGON as the Pension Scheme provider.
Lyn Financial Services (LFS) has been appointed as the Company’s Pension Scheme Advisors and they will also be able to provide on-going support to employees.
If you are uncertain about whether joining the Company scheme is suitable for you, LFS will provide additional information on the scheme. Employees may wish to seek their own independent financial advice from their own selected Financial Advisor, however employees should bear in mind that a fee may be charged.
Technology & Innovation Awards Programme

In our increasingly competitive key markets, protection and exploitation of Plessey Semiconductor’s Intellectual Property (IP) is essential for the success of our business.
In order to encourage and recognise innovation and development of exceptional new products and IP, a monetary reward scheme is in place. The Technology and Innovations Award Program recognises and rewards those employees who are granted a patent and /or have technical papers / articles published and/or presented at Conference.

Occupational Health Doctor
Within our organisation we have an Occupational Health / Medical adviser who visits the Plymouth site frequently. The types of services provided are:
- Pre-employment medical & health assessments
- Treatment of illness & injury including liaison with GP’s, hospitals or other agencies
- Promoting H&S awareness, providing advice on matters of occupational health & hygiene
- Providing medical screening for groups of employees where specific hazards exist
- Undertaking environmental & ergonomic checks and visits aimed at improving workstations and preventing illness & injury
Various medical examinations are carried out throughout the year for some employee groups. These take the form of annual management medicals or medicals in accordance with COSHH regulations.
Employees may request to see the Occupational Health / Medical adviser for advice on any health related work problem.
Gym & Sports and Social
There is a Sports and Social Club which co-ordinates various activities for employees, including cycling events, a snooker table and table tennis membership and a walking group.
There is also a subsidised Gym on site, which is open to members of the Sports and Social Club. Membership of the Gym is also open to members spouse or partner, subject to an additional subscription.
The Company operates a Private Healthcare scheme for all employees with Aviva.
It is also possible to upgrade your membership to cover your family members by paying an additional premium.
Plessey provide employees with the opportunity to join a discounted dental scheme via Cigna dental. This is an employee paid scheme (direct from salary on a monthly basis), which offers money back for all eligible dental treatment. Pre-existing dental conditions are covered and there are 3 different levels of cover available.
Free Fruit & Vend
Free Coffee, Tea and Hot Chocolate are available for all staff from a variety of vending machines on site. Plessey reusable cups are provided for all staff.
Free Fruit is offered to all staff on site and can ben collected from The Mezz area or the canteen on a daily basis. Fruit is made available to any employees working shifts also.
A subsidised catering service is provided which serves hot and cold meals and snacks during specified opening times.
When the staff restaurant is closed, drinks, food and snacks can be obtained from a vending service. The catering staff are happy to provide a take away service on request.
Microwave ovens and fridges are provided for employee’s convenience.
